The 2016 Spring Pledge Class worked with City Schoolyard Garden at Burnley-Moran Elementary School for their pledge class project. CSG is a 501(c)3 that works to cultivate academic achievement, health, environmental stewardship, and community engagement through garden-based, experiential learning for Charlottesville youth. While there APO planted a 34-tree sound barrier flanking the bypass, constructed 5 garden beds for a larger sensory garden, made necessary repairs to the on-site toolshed, and built 8 picnic tables and 12 bird houses to facilitate learning in the garden. The students and community at Burnley-Moran Elementary School will be able to utilize these improvements to their space to foster academic and environmental knowledge and growth.
